
Nate Henry has lived in the Swartz Creek area his entire life and
has been a resident of the city since 2012. He is a 1998 graduate of Swartz
Creek High School and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of
Michigan–Flint. He lives in Winchester Village in the home that was built for
his grandparents in 1957.
He was appointed to the Swartz Creek City Council in 2020 to fill
a vacant seat. Later that year, he was elected to serve the remainder of a
four-year term as the Council representative for Precinct 3. He was elected to
a full four-year term in 2022, and in 2024 the City Council selected him to
serve as Mayor.
Mayor Henry represents the City of Swartz Creek on several
regional and local boards. He serves as Chairperson of the Metro Police
Authority Board and Vice Chairperson of the Genesee County Metropolitan
Alliance. He is also a past Chairperson of the Genesee County Small Cities and
Villages Association and currently serves on the MTA Flint Board of Directors
on behalf of that organization. In addition, he serves on the Swartz Creek
Downtown Development Authority, Planning Commission, and Parks and Recreation
Advisory Board.
Mayor Henry is a member of the Swartz Creek Area Historical
Society, where he enjoys attending meetings, learning about the community’s
past, and recently began serving as editor of the organization’s newsletter. He
also makes an effort to attend or observe meetings of neighboring communities
and the Genesee County Board of Commissioners to stay informed about regional
issues and opportunities that may affect Swartz Creek.
